Field Trip: Seattle Library

seattle central library

Last Saturday was rainy and cold, so we saw it as a perfect opportunity to visit the Seattle Library. Located in downtown Seattle, it is an incredible example of modern design. Rem Koolhaas came up with the concept, and we enjoyed walking around inside his vision very much.

Grey, Meg, & Jane by the escalator

views from the atrium

Brad's favorite part: the bright green elevator interiors
Meg's favorite part: the mix of neutral industrial building materials with vibrant colors
Jane's favorite part: the children's library on the main level
Grey's favorite part: sleeping in the stroller

Meg,
We might be headed your way for our new job. Could you write me and tell me more about the area you're living in? briannehlindsay AT gmail DOT com. Thanks!

The library looks really cool. I really like the bright yellow escalators in the background. The steel and glass mixed with vibrant colors is definitely a striking juxtaposition.

We were in downtown Seattle last Sat. as well!! we passed the library to and from our destination, and I was thinking it would be a great place for a field trip! :) We have yet to visit, it looks like a fun library!!

That is one cool library! I thought our library was pretty cool for having a fish tank and a water fountain. :)
