First, a fond memory:
Now a few highlights from tonight's bedtime story:
"then Manny had to stop playing for a while because he had too much juice. When he came back, it just wasn't the same. The owner and his wife were fighting over money, and Manny kept getting hurt. They eventually forgot about him and sold him."
"Nobody on the whole team could really hit the ball. But then a little boy named Grey stood up in the crowd, and said, 'I can hit better than any of you.' The other team (the Giants) laughed at him and called him a baby. He jumped down on to the field, and Joe Torre shrugged his shoulders and said, 'who cares.' All the taunting just made him play better, and after a few difficult innings, Grey hit a grand slam in the 9th to win the game."
(Thanks to Adam Gopnik for giving me the idea of "the rookie" story)
